The right visa or entry permission

GCC nationals generally cross on a national ID. Other nationalities need a valid Saudi visa or e-visa, and a Kuwaiti e-visa or visa on arrival where eligible. Requirements vary by nationality — confirm yours with the relevant embassy before you travel.

Residency documents, if you hold them

Carry your Iqama or Kuwaiti civil ID alongside your passport if you are resident in either country.

Everyone travelling, named at booking

Tell us every passenger when you book. Border records are per person, and an unlisted passenger cannot simply be added at the crossing.

The crossing is generally open around the clock, but processing time varies with how busy it is. Weekends and public holidays are slower. Plan arrival times with that in mind rather than to the minute.

What the driver handles, and what you do

Your driver deals with the vehicle documentation, insurance and tolls. Passengers present their own passports and complete immigration themselves — that part cannot be done on your behalf.

How much does a private taxi from Kuwait to Riyadh cost?

Fares start at 300 KWD one way for the whole vehicle — not per seat — and the same starting fare applies to both the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the GMC Yukon. Message us with your travel date and passenger count and we will confirm the final price before you book.

Are border fees and tolls included?

Yes. The border fees, the vehicle insurance for the crossing and the road tolls are all covered by the confirmed fare — there is nothing extra to pay at the border.

Will we have to walk across the border?

No. You stay in the same vehicle with the same driver for the whole journey, and there is no changing cars at the crossing. Passengers do still present their own passports and complete immigration themselves — that part cannot be done on your behalf — but there is no walking across.

How long does the drive from Kuwait to Riyadh take?

Around 7 to 9 hours of driving, plus however long the border takes on the day. Published road distances for the route range from about 630 km to 715 km depending on which crossing is used, so treat any single figure as an estimate.

Which border crossing does the route use?

There are two land crossings between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia — Al Khafji / Al Nuwaiseeb on the coast and Al Ruqi'i / Al Salmi inland. Your driver confirms which one before departure, based on your pickup point, your Riyadh destination and conditions on the day.

Which vehicles are available on this route?

Do I need a visa to enter Saudi Arabia this way?

Is it better to fly or drive this route?
